The one thing you need to know to improve any area of your life.

What is it about life that sometimes makes it feel difficult?

You try to do your best and work hard to get where you want to be, but things often don’t go to plan, then you veer off the path you were following without realising and before long you lose direction. It can take some time to become aware that we have taken a wrong turn, or simply that the path we took no longer matches our desires. possible

You more than likely have a very good idea of where your life is not taking you, that you are drifting off into the unknown with a lack of direction. You begin to feel stuck or confused and think, what am I doing with my life?

In order to regain control of the direction of your life, you are often advised to set goals.

Setting goals: is a positive step towards a more fulfilling life but it can be difficult to determine what your goals should be and stick to them.

Positive thinking: it’s hard to think positive when you feel stuck, stressed, unfulfilled and know you need to adjust. It’s easier and more comfortable to carry on as you are than commit to making real changes.

In order to set goals and improve any area of your life you really need to know yourself first, to understand your mind, your thinking, your truth. To know these things, it is important to identify your values, attitudes and beliefs. Your values determine your attitudes and beliefs, they are behind your thoughts, your responses, your feelings and emotions.

Finding out what really makes you tick aligns your true self with your needs, wants and desires.  Knowing your values is the key to making decisions and setting goals for a better life.

Something to think about:

  • What do you enjoy doing?
  • What gets you excited?
  • What irritates you
  • When do you get upset?
  • How do you respond in a challenging or stressful situation?
  • How do you respond to criticism?
  • How do respond to a friend or colleague who is upset?
  • How do you respond to praise and recognition?
  • What do you believe about yourself /others?
  • What do you think about your work colleagues?
  • What are your thoughts about society, politics, success, those who have money, those who don’t have much?
